Selecting off-site storage

Both Dean and Daniel have raised some very good points about off-site
records storage. You definitely must determine what it is you want to store
off-site. The items stored should have a fairly low activity level for one.
If someone is ordering 10-20 boxes of records per day then something is
really wrong.

You should develop and issue an RFP especially if you are wanting to store
archival material. This will define for the bidders the level of service you
desire, states your problem and allows you to compare apples to apples.
There is a charge for everything done in CRC, low storage costs may mean
higher activity charges.

For further edification here is a link to an article written by a friend of
mine.

YOu might also do a search in the recmgmt-l listserv archives as this is a
regularly discussed subject. You do not have to be a subscriber to search
the archives.
