Re: FF - Telemarketing

This was my father's favorite ploy. Usually he would say "Wait a minute
please, I need to get a pencil," and then set the phone down. Not too
polite, but he always figured it was rude of them to call and interrupt his
dinner. At home I just let the answering machine screen the calls.

On a more serious note, we do occasionally receive telephone solicitations at
the office. Often people trying to sell old books, but sometimes office
supplies. I ususally ask them to mail us a catalog, and leave it at that. We
have obtained some books for our special collections from some of these
catalogs.
