That's
because you are using a non-preservation copy. The standards clearly state
that the LE (life expectancy) is based on a storage-only "non-use" original or
silver halide duplicate. Microfilm that is used for retrieval is highly
suseptable to damage and is, therefore, not considered covered by the stability
or longevity standards.

The standards may say Five hundred
years, but as I researcher I've had 50 year old microfilm break in the
microfilm reader rendering the film useless for my purposes.
