Records management takes priority
INFORMATION MINISTER, Colin Campbell, has revealed that 428 Government employees
have been trained and 16 workshops held to prepare civil servants for the adoption of the Access to Information Act.
The Minister, who was making his contribution to the 2002/2003 Sectoral Debate last
Wednesday in the House of Representatives, said the training was undertaken at the
Records Centre in the Jamaica Archives and Records Department (JARD). Employees
participated in intensive training programmes in archival and records management.

County recorders getting new tool

Hart InterCivic, a provider of electronic solutions for state and local governments,
this year plans to introduce a complete Webbased system for filing, recording, managing
and accessing official public records.
The company's Anthem product suite is the next system on deck for county recorders,
building on the features of Hart Workflow for Public Records, said Bill Stotesbery, vice president marketing for Hart InterCivic.

Gilmore asks librarian for list
He cites 'confusion' in documents dispute

Former Gov. Jim Gilmore yesterday said he'll give state archivists the official
papers they want when they tell him what they already have.
"Clearly there exists some confusion as to what you have in your possession and what my administration turned over to you," he said in a letter to Librarian of Virginia Nolan T. Yelich.
