Archivist
Responsibilities. This position is part of one year,
NHPRC-funded project starting September 2002, to arrange, describe, and preserve
the archives of the Diocese of Amarillo. The Project Archivist will identify and
process the Diocese's historical collections at an appropriate level of access.
The Archivist will create standardized accessioning records, implement a
classified arrangement scheme, prepare a guide level survey, including
preservation assessment, and model finding aids and inventories to the holdings.
Will supervise a part-time project assistant.
Requirements. M.L.S.
or M.A. in archives studies and demonstrated experience in archival processing
or related activities required. Familiarity with archival descriptive standards
and routine computer software is strongly desired. The candidate should have a
knowledge of the history of religion and/or the Roman Catholic faith. The
preferred skill set includes excellent written and oral skills, collaborative
work ethic, physical strength, and flexibility.
Salary: $30,000 (35 hour
