Re: Foreign currency

One can easily get American Express Traveler Checks, here in the good 'ol
USA, in pound stirling. Maybe from whomever else puts out traveler check
things, too. With the bank plastic that seems to work everywhere, I no
longer use the pound traveler checks. They cost a tad more, and there may be
a bit of a delay in getting them, especially if you are not near a large
bank. I suppose a minimum order is required, whatever that is. However, it
might be a cost effective way...I somehow think bank drafts are on the
pricey side?

I should point out that the UK is not part of the eurozone and any cheque
would have to be in pounds sterling. Is there not such a thing as an
international money order which could solve the problem? Or is that also
incredibly expensive?

And, I don't recall this exactly as to where it's going, but as of today,
the Euro and US Dollar are even, so no exchange rate per se to worry about -
just the check cashing fee - unless they've told you they won't take a US
check - in which case I'd see if you could do electronic transfer - which
avoid the bank issue and which would probably do the exchange rate for you.
