Archive Trainee, Universal Studios Operations
Group

The Universal Studios Operations Group is
responsible for the physical operations of
Universal Studios and its entities in Universal
City, California. The group provides production
support services, in addition to managing and
maintaining the facilities.  Other services
include transportation, accounting, record
management, construction, catering, special
events, on-site stores, and everything necessary
for the diverse, daily activities of running a
large, complex company.

Under the direction of the Archivist or the
Assistant Archivist, you'll assume responsibility
for the physical sorting, organizing and housing
of materials such as original artwork, props,
wardrobe, company documents, set pieces, and
architectural drawings. You'll also create concise
summaries and descriptions of items using keywords
and museum and archive terminology.  In addition,
you'll conduct appropriate research on
film/television product including online research,
viewing films, and communication with various
departments and outside institutions

Requirements:

· A Bachelor's degree, preferably in history,
humanities or arts, or 1-2 years' previous work
experience in a corporate archive, library,
museum, or art gallery setting
· Detail oriented and self motivated with good
organizational and writing skills
· The ability to conceptualize, draw conclusions,
and make decisions based on information provided
· The ability to lift up to 40 pounds
· Computer literate with proficiency in MS
Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as database
management systems

Preferences:

· Experience in a registrar's department
· Previous experience in handling fragile objects
and documents
· Knowledge of the history of film and the
entertainment industry
