Re: cleaning & digitization of lantern slides

Please reply to the list or Cc me if you answer Irene. I am in a similar position and am not finding much. I have almost 1,300 glass plate slides to deal with. We also have the old Keystone projector, and I have been warned about not using it because of the heat generated. Many thanks--

Subject: cleaning & digitization of lantern slides

We plan to digitize some of our lantern slides and we have tried to scan
them in a scanner with a light box, the images turn out fine, but I don't
know if the scanning process, e.g. heat and light involved will damage the
slides. I want to clean and store the lantern slides properly too, but I
can't find relevant information from the listserve, websites of NEDCC, CoOL
and Solinetare. It is appreciated if you can give me any advice and help.
