Re: Friday Funnies - strange researchers revisted.

If anyone else has mentioned this and I didn't see it, I apologize in
advance.

Researchers like this are likely to walk away with items from your
collection. I think we all have a tendency to try and be nice and helpful.
We then lose site of potential dangers to our collections, dangers that go
beyond a researcher mishandling material.

The rules are in place to keep the collection safe, researchers who can't
buy into the rules have no business doing research. At least not in "my"
archives.

I can think of half a dozen examples off the top of my head
where "researchers" slipped documents into their briefcases or notes
folders and the documents were never seen again. Several years ago someone
hit several archives in the Chicago area for railroad related material by
slipping photos and postcards into a briefcase and walking away.

It pays to be dilligent and to stick to the rules for everyone.
