Re: Party food for the left-behinds.
Phyllis' unfortunately closed. But I believe that Jimmy's is still open, right on the water. It also has great fries.

Barbara -
My Nutmegger wife tells me that you used to be able to get your CT
lobster rolls at two places in West Haven Beach - across the street from
each other - "Jimmy's" and "Phyllis's".
Cheers!

Sounds delicious, much better than mayo. I doff my hat to the Nutmeg
State,
but I absolutely refuse to put nutmeg on a lobster roll. I think that
reminds me of what John Huston once said about colorizing films made
originally in black and white: "That's like pouring maple syrup on a
roast!"

No, Art. A true Connecticut lobster roll is served with melted butter,
not mayo. It is almost like eating the whole thing without the work.
Actually, though, I have never found a restaurant that serves them.
That is why I go to Maine for my lobster. Now the truth is out!
Oh, I will also bring a selection ofwines from the Sharpe Hill winery
here in Connecticut. Great stuff.

Hi, Barbara. Is there a distinguishing characteristic of a
Connecticutt
lobster roll? Fresh water lobsters from the Naugatuck River? A
recipe
developed by Hartford Convention Federalists?
