Allow me to correct myself, as I was guilty of looking for "the one true
meaning" of the LOGOS. I was thinking of the following technical meanings:
1. [Philos] The impersonnel rational principle that governs and develops
the universe.
2. [Theol] The divine word or reason incarnate in Jesus Christ. John 1:1-14
I wonder how much [2] drew on [1]? Would John's readers have immediately
thought of [2]?
It is my understanding that LOGOS in general may mean a word, saying,
speech, discourse, thought, proportion, ratio, or reckoning.
