Rather than using Canada's multilingual setting, perhaps a better
comparison with 1st century Palestine would be South Africa, in
which it may be argued that a minority has imposed its will
on the majority. But the languages spoken by untold numbers
of the "majority" include a respectable and remarkable
fluency in English.
