Re: Could ἐν ᾗ in Heb 9:4 be the holy of holies?
I don't understand the reference to 1 Kings 9:8.[/i]’ My bad. I guess the first proofread didn't take. 1 Ki 8:9, "Nothing was in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of ...

Re: Septuagint with Strong's?
Awesome! I checked the websites, which are all exactly what I was looking for. I'll also order the book by Robinson, as I generally prefer looking at paper rather than pixels.
God bless!

Septuagint with Strong's?
In doing word studies in the New Testament I often wish I had a resource to search for Greek words in the Septuagint. Is there a website on which one can search the Greek Septuagint? Or any book which indexes Septuagint words, like the King James Concordance does with the New Testament? Or any progr...

Re: Greek "ΗΧV ΓΕΝΝΗΣΙΣ" on painting
Thanks! Even given two years of intense studying I would never have figured that out by myself.

Greek "ΗΧV ΓΕΝΝΗΣΙΣ" on painting
Please see the attached picture. If the attachment doesn't work, it is fount at http://ikonmaleri.no/galleri/Festsyklus/nativity.jpg
The question is, what does the inscription mean? I assume the second word, "genesis", is "beginning". But ΗΧV?!
Thanks,
Daniel

Re: 1 Tim 2:15 - who does μείνωσιν refer to?
Thanks, Bible.org's NET bible notes and literature archives really helped. I uncovered a myriad of material on this verse. Suffice to say, no one really knows the correct interpretation of the verse, but several (or two, by my count) good explanations exist. Awesome resources!

1 Tim 2:15 - who does μείνωσιν refer to?

Re: Can a pl verb (ἐθαύμαζον) take a sg subject (ὁ λαὸς)?
Thanks, you (pl) have been very helpful.
It seems to me that even if the verb ἐθαύμαζον (they marveled) grammatically has an implied subject, it still semantically refers back to ὁ λαὸς. So either explanation makes sense to me.

Can a pl verb (ἐθαύμαζον) take a sg subject (ὁ λαὸς)?
Luke 1:21: καὶ ἦν ὁ λαὸς προσδοκῶν τὸν Ζαχαρίαν, καὶ ἐθαύμαζον ἐν τῷ χρονίζειν αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ναῷ. It seems that ὁ λαὸς, a subject in the singular form, is being referred to by ἐθαύμαζον, a verb in the plural form. And to make it weirder, προσδοκῶν, a singular participle, also refers back to ὁ λαὸς. Do...
