Re: γάρ in Philippians 2:5

By the way, the full text of the verse is Τοῦτο γὰρ φρονείσθω ἐν ὑμῖν ὃ καὶ ἐν χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ Thanks for quoting the full text (apparently from the Byzantine text). This text differs from the critical text in more than the conjunctive particle γάρ but also in the form of the verb. I should have asked...

Re: γάρ in Philippians 2:5

But I'm not sure that the meaning could be "because you need to have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus" How are you getting "you need to have this mind" from φρονεῖτε? That's the reason of my fist question, how to translate the verse including γάρ. "Becasue.....

γάρ is translated most of the times as because, providing the reason of the things that were stated before.

γάρ in Philippians 2:5

Whether the original text included the word γάρ or not is a matter of debate. But if we consider the text including the word, what would be the sense? How to translate Philippians 2:5 with γάρ?

Thanks.

Re: I need help with Philippians 2:6-8

I'm still stuck with two options: 1) Being in the form of God(or a god), [even when] he didn't esteem being equalled to God as a robbery. 2) Being in the form of God(or a god), he didn't seek as a booty being equalled to God. On linguistic grounds, is there something that forbids one of the transla...

Re: I need help with Philippians 2:6-8

Many times I thought about studying Greek (and if everything goes right, later Hebrew). <snip> When? First I'll have to figure how to do it. What do you recommend to start? books? a teacher? a course? I didn't see much advertising about "study koine Greek" here, LOL At this point, there i...

The Bible "Orthodox Jewish Bible": Who, though existing in the demut of the mode of being of Elohim, nevertheless Moshiach did not regard being equal with G-d as a thing to be seized Orthodox Jewish Bibles do not include the New Testament. I'm not sure where you got this, but it didn't co...

Re: I need help with Philippians 2:6-8

I'm not sure how you can get much deeper into the Greek language without first getting a more solid grasp on the Greek language. All this "reasoning about" Greek can only get you so far. I'm starting to think the same thing. Great! When are you going to get signed up for a Greek class?! :...

Re: I need help with Philippians 2:6-8

Orthodox Jewish Bibles do not include the New Testament. I'm not sure where you got this, but it didn't come from Orthodox Judaism. It's the name of the Bible, I'm not saying they are orthodox. May be they are messianic. Again, pull it back to the Greek: ὃς ἐν μορφῇ θεοῦ ὑπάρχων οὐχ ἁρπαγμὸν ἡγήσατ...
