Re: Who is getting the captcha screen?

I've been getting it. I assumed it was because I started using a password manager.

Re: "I just don't think it makes you a better exegete ... " Theology, exegesis, and Learning Koine Greek Communicatively

I had improved so drastically myself as compared to what I had been able to do before. I had learned Greek through 4 years of Grammar Translation in college. Years later, I began to teach Greek the only way I knew how. Though I was teaching Greek, my advances were minimal. Then I began learning and...

Re: "I just don't think it makes you a better exegete ... " Theology, exegesis, and Learning Koine Greek Communicatively

I hadn’t thought of it in ...

These are very well done. Thank you, Ben.
The close captioning option on the Pharisee/Tax Collector story is useful.

Re: Intro - Joel Ellis

There are so many great things being said in this thread, I hardly know where to start! Great to hear your take on things, Joel Ellis. I'm glad I asked. I am convinced that treating Greek, Latin, and Hebrew as living languages and using an input-based approach focused on reading (and speaking) fluen...

τί ἐστιν ἐξήγησις;

I recognize this approach is insufficient for exegetical engagement of literature. Joel, I'm sure you didn't expect that comment to be provocative, but it is a little bit to me. I teach African ministerial students Greek via communicative methods. I've often heard this claim about exegesis. My resp...

(1) Μωχα καὶ Μωρηδ. ὅταν μνημονεύω τοῦ δόλου τοῦ πρότερον ὑμῶν καταπονέομαι. How about a participle here? κεκοπιακως... μνημονευὼ. Or, μνημονεύων... καταπονοῦμαι. Is προτερον a fixed adverbial form, or should it be προτέρου? (2) Διὰ τί δεῖ τοὺς δύο ὀκνηροὺς διχοτομῆσαι τοὺς μαρσίππους; διχοτομησαι ...

Re: Needing Help with Erasmus Exemplar

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly does the author mean by “ligatures” ? "The minuscule script is a joined-up or cursive script. As in other cursive scripts, letters attach to each other in a variety of ways. These connections between letters are known as ligatures... Keep in mind that the amoun...
