Martha mourning (John 11)?
I have a question concerning a detail in the account of the raising of Lazarus in John 11. The verses which interest me are 17 and 20: 17 Ἐλθὼν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς εὗρεν αὐτὸν τέσσαρας ἤδη ἡμέρας ἔχοντα ἐν τῷ μνημείῳ… 20 ἡ οὖν Μάρθα ὡς ἤκουσεν ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἔρχεται ὑπήντησεν αὐτῷ· Μαριὰμ δὲ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ ἐκαθέζε...

Re: give us this day our daily bread
Thanks to both Arsenios and Randall Buth for these comments. I was happy to see that my question still created some interest! I tend to agree with Randall.

Re: Mark 5.41
I have a question concerning Mark 5.41: καὶ κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ παιδίου λέγει αὐτῇ Ταλειθά κούμ, ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον Τὸ κοράσιον, σοὶ λέγω, ἔγειρε. And taking the child by the hand, he says to her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say to you, Arise. My question concerns...

Re: John 7:37-38
I still have not mastered the use of the Quote mechanism. In my preceding reply to Wes Wood's post, the first paragraph in the blue field is a quote from Wes's comments. The second paragraph is my answer.

Re: John 7:37-38
To get a correct syntax, some versions do violence to the Greek text in order to get something like: “The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him" (Holman Christian Standard Bible). Is this construction compatible with the ...

John 7:37-38
Dear Forum: I would like to ask a question concerning John 7:37-38: 37Ἐν δὲ τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ μεγάλῃ τῆς ἑορτῆς ἱστήκει ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ ἔκραξεν λέγων Ἐάν τις διψᾷ ἐρχέσθω πρός με καὶ πινέτω. 38 ὁ πιστεύων εἰς ἐμέ, καθὼς εἶπεν ἡ γραφή, ποταμοὶ ἐκ τῆς κοιλίας αὐτοῦ ῥεύσουσιν ὕδατος ζῶντος. I am most in...

Re: Matthew 21.3; Mark 11.3
Thank you all very much for your comments. You have made it clear that doctrinal castles cannot be built on the presence or absence of a comma or on whether "kai" is translated "and" or "but"!
