Re: τίς in Titus 1:6
Yea, that is pretty much the way I understand it, especially since ἀνέγκλητος is masculine. It seems to me that Young is being too literal here.

τίς in Titus 1:6
In Titus 1:6, we see the phrase εἴ τίς ἐστιν. In many translations τίς is rendered as 'man' or' elder'. Since τίς is an indefinite, what is the justification for rendering this in the masculine rather than as 'anyone' as the ESV or Young's so render it?

Re: Idiom
The reason I was curious was because Jesus uses both statements to refer to a single set of events.

OK. I appreciate you letting me know. Thank you.
Jude 25b
I hope I am in the right forum to ask this question. I notice in Jude 25b there is quite a difference in the variant readings of this section. 1. The Wectcott and Hort text reads μόνῳ θεῷ σωτῆρι ἡμῶν διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν δόξα μεγαλωσύνη κράτος καὶ ἐξουσία πρὸ παντὸς τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ νῦν κ...

Re: Acts 21:9 προφητεύουσαι
That makes sense. I suppose this is why it is rendered prophesied in most English translations rather than prophetesses. I am not sure that it really matters. Thanks a lot for the help.

Acts 21:9 προφητεύουσαι
I do hope this is not a stupid question and I hope I am in the correct forum. In Acts 21:9, which is the better rendering of προφητεύουσαι ? Most translations say 'prophesied' while the NAS reads 'prophetesses' which seems to agree with the nominative case. Is this correct or should the emphasis be ...

Re: aorist participles
But there's no such thing as a conditional verb , this is all an attempt to convey what the Greek says in English, it involves interpretation, and something is always lost in translation. Point taken. I supposed I should have said a conditional aorist. This is how Wallace regards it, "This par...
