Re: 2 Cor 4:4 the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ or the light of the glorious gospel of Christ?

Hi Victor, Focussing on the Greek issue, I see little to choose between the two English translations of this phrase. It's clear which translation is the word for word rendition but ultimately they are saying much the same thing, admittedly with a very slight difference of emphasis. I'll not comment ...

Re: Peters' Thesis: The Greek Article

Does anyone have a list of the table of contents of the book edited by King? It looks interesting. I was hoping the T of C would be available via Amazon but no luck.

Re: Peters' Thesis: The Greek Article

In addition to what others have said above, the number of ad hominem attacks in Peter's response do not help his argument.

Re: αὐτοὺς in Mt 28:19-20.

I see no difficulty with αὐτοὺς referring to πάντα τὰ ἔθνη. τὰ ἔθνη is grammatically neuter but in reality refers to people/human beings, hence the use of the masculine αὐτοὺς used substantively.

Re: Ignatius to the Romans 5:3

Matthew, my elderly copy of Goodwin and Gulick's Greek Grammar appears to have the answer at para. 1541: "The infinitive with the subject accusative sometimes expresses a wish, like the optative..." In that case μηθέν would be the subject accusative and με would be a double accusative (obj...

Re: Gregory of Nyssa: Contra Eunomium

Half my doctoral dissertation was on Basil's CE. I've looked at portions of Gregory's too. Yes, as, you've surmised the Schaff translation is difficult to sync with Jaegar. The recent Brill translation is well done, and useful for clarifying points where Gregory is obscure. Gregory also strikes me,...

Re: Galatians 4:12-14 Γίνεσθε ὡς ἐγώ

Gregory, please try to restrict you discussions more closely to the Greek, and not stray too far into general or theological interpretation. As it is, I see this as simply hyperbole that the Galatians were ready to do anything whatever he asked, no matter what it was. The idea of the eye being some...

Re: The expression: "ἐντεῦθεν καὶ ἐντεῦθεν"

I came across a recent post on Reddit from Ted, who hasn’t given up on his quest for a satisfying answer. Here is my response. https://niedergall.com/an-obscure-greek-question-no-longer-waiting-for-an-answer/ Anything anyone would add or take away? I agree with Jason, well answered, as it was in th...
