Re: Introduction: Roger McDaniel
When I made my post, I was thinking specifically of the challenges and rewards of learning to read Greek. It takes a great deal of practice and patience to reach the point where reading a Greek text (including but not limited to the Bible) is as meaningful as reading the same work in English. Agree...

Re: Throwing away my flashcards
Could somebody possibly check out the link posted for this thread? I've clicked both links given here and still wound up at a "Car Repair Manual" site with an error message. I'm collecting some sites and tools to further my Greek studies, but pretty sure instructions to rebuild a carbureto...

Re: John 20:21 -- ἀποστέλλω vs πέμπω
Maybe I am cynical, but I don't think that second year students (save perhaps a truly elite few) are equipped for such a task. Generally, I would agree with you, but I think his intent was to encourage us to be as observant as we were capable of being (at that stage of our education), and at least ...

Re: Introduction: Roger McDaniel
In the Scripture I find a wonder that I presume unavailable in any other book: namely that the Author can still speak to me through it, and every time I read a new (or familiar) passage, He is able to bring new meaning and/or application to the text and into my life. Re: Introduction: Roger McDaniel
Thanks for the welcome. It only took me about 10 minutes of clicking around before the thought occurred to me, "Hey, maybe I don't know nearly as much as I THINK I do... (or NEED to)." Just sayin... By the way, I just got home and checked, my Readers Testament is the Richard J. Goodrich, A...

Re: John 20:21 -- ἀποστέλλω vs πέμπω
What differences do you see in phrases and clauses that can mean essentially the same thing? Is this a direct quote? It is (as best I recall it) as Dr. Lovell frequently stated it in an exegesis class, and in private conversations where we discussed it further. I believe he held it as a "gener...

Re: Introduction: Roger McDaniel
No, JR, I had not seen this thread yet, just posted an introduction including my recent delightful discovery of the Readers Testament at a "Half-Priced Books" location. My pastor makes frequent use of the original language, and was very interested when I showed him my prize, so I ordered o...
