The Feast of Tabernacles relates to a harvest. IE: suntelia seems to be a harvest.
How do you understand the sunteleia at Mt 24:3 and Mt 13:40, as a period of time or as an end (a point in time)?

Identifying a Modern Greek Translation

What modern Greek Bible version is the following text from? It is quoted on many websites, yet I do not see a reference to the version which it is taken from. The expression “σημάδι για το δικό σου ερχομό και για τη συντέλεια του κόσμου” is peculiar to this Bible translation. “Κι ενώ καθόταν πάνω στ...

Translation of the Phrase Τυγχάνει Συντελείας

Is the phrase “τυγχάνει συντελείας” rendered as “bring to completion” in the below text? Is the most literal rendering of the word τυγχάνω “reach; arrive at” rather than “bring to”? In the text, the word seems to be used in the active rather than passive voice. Diodorus Siculus, Library of History, ...

Re: Translation of the Words Καταστροφή, Συντέλεια, and Κατάλυσις

Since the Greek text uses the phrase συντέλειαν τὴν κατάλυσιν (where the two words are linked by the article τὴν), this seems to indicate that the two words are rendered as “culminate and end” in the translation, which may mean that the translator changed the order of the renderings of the word κατα...

Re: Translation of the Words Καταστροφή, Συντέλεια, and Κατάλυσις

I am aware that the translator has rendered Greek nouns by English verbs. One possible reason is to make the English text more readable. Or the translator simply translated the text the way he wanted. A more literal rendering would be “The particular events comprised in it have their beginning in th...

Translation of the Words Καταστροφή, Συντέλεια, and Κατάλυσις

Is the word καταστροφὴν rendered as “culminate” and the word συντέλειαν as “end” in the below text, or is it vice versa? Or is the word συντέλειαν rendered as “destruction”? Polybius, Histories, book 3, chapter 1, sections 8-10: “Τὴν μὲν οὖν καθόλου τῆς ὑποθέσεως ἔμφασιν καὶ περιγραφὴν ἤδη δεδηλώκαμ...

Re: Finding a List of Modern Greek Bible Versions

Thank you. The five versions are apparently some of the most widely used modern Greek Bibles. I do not have a big project but simply want to see whether the words παρουσία and συντέλεια appear in modern Greek translations of the Bible, and whether modern native Greek-speaking people understand them ...

Finding a List of Modern Greek Bible Versions

I need to find a list of all modern Greek translations of the Bible (translated from the original Koine Greek language into the modern Greek language). I want to see whether certain words which were used in the original copies of the Christian Greek Scriptures are still used in modern Greek Bible ve...

Re: The Words Συντελεία and Τέλος in Mt 24

Thank you. Apparently the word τέλος in vss. 6, 14 refers to the same end as συντελεία in vs. 3. The two words are often rendered with the same English word “end” in English Bible translations.

The Words Συντελεία and Τέλος in Mt 24

Is there a particular reason why the writer of Matthew chapter 24 chose to use the word συντελεία in vs. 3 while using the word τέλος in vss. 6, 14? Is some distinction made between these words in the chapter? Or are they used interchangeably with the same meaning?
