It is common but incorrect to claim that Yeshu was an acceptable form of the name in the first century. The claim is based on ONE ossuary. All other ancient attestations are ישוע . There are three forms of Yeshua I would know to exist in Hebrew; Yehoshua, Yeshua, and Yeshu. I know that Yehoshua is translated in the Septuagint as Iesous, identical to Jesus in NT Koine.
