Greek To Me updated with Online Learning System

I’ve long been a fan of Greek To Me by J. Lyle Story and Cullen I. K. Story. Some recent inquiries on Facebook about beginning NT Greek grammars found me again recommending it, so I decided rather than write the same thing about it every time, I would put the information in a blog post. In doing so ...

Ephesians 5:18 and "filled with the Spirit" (re: Wallace)

Daniel Wallace in GGBB writes re: Ephesians 5:18 2. ἐν + Dative for Content Rare is the usage of the simple dative to denote the content that is used by a verb of filling. For ἐν + the dative, this usage is debatable. Normally, a verb of filling takes a genitive of content; rarely, a simple dative o...

Re: Supplemental Lexicon of the Septuagint

As best as I can tell, neither BDAG, LSJ, nor LEH give this meaning. Hi Eric, LSJ under III in the section from which you started to quote goes on to say: “ freq. with εὖ and κακῶς, κακῶς ἀ. ὑπὸ τινος to be ill spoken of by one. A similar idiom occurs in Homer with the verb κλύω. Ah, I now see that...

Re: Supplemental Lexicon of the Septuagint

Okay, I found an instance where Chamberlain supplements BDAG , LSJ and LEH : ἀκούω in 2 Maccabees 14:37 ( Chamberlain mentions this on p. viii of his Preface - "In 2 Macc we encounter an unusual (though fundamental Greek) use of ἀκούω not employed anywhere else in the Greek Bible."): Ραζις...

Re: Supplemental Lexicon of the Septuagint

Or will Chamberlain's Lexicon be useful for supplementing not only BDAG and LSJ but LEH as well? My impression is that Chamberlain's lexicon is intended for those who have BDAG but not LEH or Muraoka's lexicon. I guess I'll just have to find out by picking random words in Logos LXX and see how Cham...

Re: Supplemental Lexicon of the Septuagint

I have BDAG and Lust ( LEH ) and LSJ in Logos. I got a new copy of Chamberlain's The Greek of the Septuagint: A Supplemental Lexicon on sale for $10, though from skimming the Intro I couldn't tell if it interacted with or supplemented LEH , or just mostly BDAG and LSJ . ( LEH is listed in the resour...

Re: What Happened at the Greek Instructors Fluency Workshop

I was asked to comment on this discussion so here is what I have to say. I had used Buth's materials to teach Greek in to different settings. Both attempts were agatha, compared to the years of teaching Greek using the 'traditional method.' However, the Fresno seminar changed everything. I walked a...
