Searching for a Greek Text on Greek Suffixes and Word Forms
Hello ladies and gentlemen, Perhaps half a year ago, I was browsing the Internet doing some study on Greek suffixes and word forms. I came across a very good text which seemed to be written in the 20th century . Basically, the book had sections on suffixes, such as say, -ισμος, -σις, and it describe...

Example of 3rd decl., velar-stem, ending in χ
Hello,
Could anyone offer an example of a 3rd declension noun derived from a velar-stem ending in the letter χ?
Other examples:
- σάρξ, from velar-stem ending in κ: σάρκ-
- αἴξ, from velar-stem ending in γ: αἰγ-
Just need a velar-stem ending in χ.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Trivia: The words Καινὴ Διαθήκη?
BlueLetterBible has a nifty search function that allows you to combine Strong's numbers in a search for multiple words occuring in the same verse. Probably less time consuming than using Logos or whatever one uses for more intensive searches. Here's the result: http://www.blbclassic.org/search/trans...

Matt.
What is the meaning of πρὸς and μετὰ here? It doesn't seem like they bot...

ὠΐζω
According to LSJ , the verb ὠΐζω apparently means "to sit on eggs, brood." However, there doesn't seem to be any texts in which it occurred (at least not available to examine). If one were to use this verb to convey the idea of "[singular subject] + was brooding + ἐπὶ/ ἐπάνω + [object...

Col. 1:23 - τοῦ κηρυχθέντος - genitive absolute?
The KJV translates τοῦ κηρυχθέντος in basically the same manner as it translates the relative pronoun + aorist verb οὗ ἠκούσατε, with an English relative pronoun followed by past tense verb (i.e., which you have heard...and which was preached). But, obviously, οὗ ἠκούσατε (relative pronoun + aorist ...

διοπετής and word-formation
Say I have a word like διοπετής which means "Zeus-fallen" or "fallen from Zeus." -πετής is related to the verb πίπτω, but how would you exactly describe its relationship? At the least, it appears to be a suffix derived from πίπτω, but can anything else be said of it? There appear...

Aristotle, Categories, Section 2
I would translate the clause as, "For certain grammatical [kn...
