Re: Ephesians 5:32 — λέγω εἰς and καὶ εἰς

Or rather, "...I am saying this relating it to Christ and to the Assembly".

Re: In Ephesians 5:32 λέγω εἰς and καὶ εἰς

Hi Barry, I was not proposing "toward" but was just using that as a place holder for my question about the second εἰς. I did just find this translation that tries to be more formally equivalent that most: Berean Literal Bible This mystery is great; but I speak as to Christ and as to the church. When...

Re: Ephesians 5:32 — λέγω εἰς and καὶ εἰς

Okay, thanks. It still sounds weird to me but as long as it sounds okay to you I'm on board.

Any opinion on the second εἰς suggesting two objects instead of one dual object?

Re: Ephesians 5:32 — λέγω εἰς and καὶ εἰς

I could be persuaded to read it as: "I am applying this to Christ and I'm applying it to the Assembly".

Thanks, yes, peri or hupo/huper/epi, I guess - anything but eis!

Any opinion about the second eis?

Re: Ephesians 5:32 — λέγω εἰς and καὶ εἰς

I didn't mean second καὶ but rather the second εἰς.

Ephesians 5:32 – λέγω εἰς and καὶ εἰς

Eph 5:32 τὸ μυστήριον τοῦτο μέγα ἐστίν ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω εἰς Χριστὸν καὶ εἰς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν λέγω εἰς is normally understood as "I speak concerning..." but it seems non-standard to me (and does not seem to be otherwise attested in the NT). I would expect a different preposition. Also, does the repeated καὶ ...

Re: The Words Συντελεία and Τέλος in Mt 24

One important distinction between συντελείας and Τέλος I have discovered since posting this question (from http://jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/14103-sukkot-feast-of) is that συντελείας "ἡ ἑορτὴ συντελείας" was how the "feast of tents" was referred to. I find this association very eschatologically...

Might the Romans have spoken Greek with an "Italian accent"?

This is perhaps slightly tangential to the site's usual focus but I'm asking in case anyone happens to be able to hazard an informed guess...

Is it at all likely that in the Koine period that the Romans spoke Greek with what people refer to now as an "Italian accent"?

Re: In Revelation 11:15 to whom does βασιλεύσει refer?

While watching this Daily Dose of Greek video this morning and Dr. Plummer's explanation of a similar situation a bit later in Revelation seems to apply to Revelation 11:15 as well, so I consider this question answered: http://dailydoseofgreek.com/scripture-passage/revelation-12-10/ Thanks for the r...
