Re: OT: BHebrew forum is down

The current status is that the data for the forum has been restored and physically moved to the new host at ibiblio. We've been working on getting the new domain name to resolve correctly, a new instance of the database server working. We are now importing the database data (all those posts, guys!) ...

OT: BHebrew forum is down

Apologies for posting off topic, but I have no other way of communicating with some BHebrew members. Among the hats I wear is as Moderator/Site Administrator of the Biblical Hebrew forum. Eight days ago we experienced an unexpected and catastrophic server failure. We had no opportunity to notify the...

Re: What do we mean by discourse analysis?

This is a question of linguistic theory, that is, what do you believe can be true of groups of clauses? Syntax traditionally covers just one sentence. Re: Post-hoc editing of B-Greek posts

I note he puts a lot of effort into his posts, especially in the threads on reading texts. Those might be candidates for editin...

Re: Correction - Substituting other possibilities

The worst aspect, I find (as a high-volume user), of B-Greek is a user's inability to post hoc correct mistakes that later become very obvious. Things such as missing references, spelling mistakes, or in this case a glaringly obvious compositional error. I guess that the resulting record of errors ...

Re: Martin Luther on Hebrew and Greek

John Hobbins, who blogs all too infrequently nowadays on Ancient Hebrew Poetry , has a nice gleaning of snippets from the Reformer on the value of learning Greek and Hebrew.
