Re: Κάθισον (kathison)

I saw something about this but was not registered so I have registered but not sure about where to find this topic. It was under a Robie ... Jason... not sure. It was discussing the meaning of Κάθισον (kathison) and kathemai and kathidzo. I am not worried about the meaning but where to locate an ex...

Re: Jn 11:56 OU MH expects negative answer?

Hi, Scott. Also, note that we have gone to Unicode in place of the old transliteration method. If it's possible for you to use Unicode instead, that would be great. There are several places online where you can copy and paste the Greek text in Unicode. John 11:56: ἐζήτουν οὖν τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἔλεγον μ...

Re: Τί οὖν βαπτίζεις

Oops. I read my lexicon wrong, that's the problem. I see now that it was trying to tell me that τί is neuter and τίνα is masculine/feminine. Actually, it has case also. τίς is nominative. τίνα is accusative. The complete paradigm is here . τίς βαπτίζει; ☣ Who is baptizing? ( מי מטביל? ) τίνα βαπτίζ...

I agree with Barry. I would naturally read it the way that it was first suggested - that the ὅτι phrase represents what she believed.

Re: About to begin the first half of first year Greek.

I had been taking Greek for 2 years, maybe longer, before I saw my first capital Ξ actually in a text. But if you want to catch a Taxi in Athens you see them all over the place :-) Or, if you study with the Ἀθήναζε program, in which the slave of Δικαιόπολις is called Ξανθίας from the second l...

Re: Daniel 11:35

There is no major difficulty in construing εις ωρας with καιρος, as per the LES: 'an appointed time for a season'. As Biblical Hebrew doesn't have a specific word that means 'hour', the use of the Greek ωρα to translate the Hebrew מועד would be therefore using ωρα as meaning 'time-period, season, a...

Re: Using masculine instead of neuter in John 6:9

Many thanks, but I do not know what do you mean by: concordatio ad sensum It means that παιδάριον here refers to a masculine child in reality . The word παιδάριον is neuter for grammatical reasons, but the person that it is referring to is not neuter. He is masculine. Therefore, the language natura...

Re: Help needed in Rev

On a side note, I just realized that my 666th post on this forum was the first of my posts in this Revelation thread. What about your 616th post? Upon careful consideration, the moderators found that the post in question was of inferior quality. Apparently the testimony of my board asso...
