Best Passages to Read after 1st Year Greek

Reposted from http://readingkoinegreek.blogspot.com [Disclaimer: this is a new blog to share some of the work I've been doing on designing automated language learning exercises.] Once someone has completed a first-year Greek class, what are the easiest New Testament passages to read? Let's assume th...

Re: Accentuation of τί in "σχῶ τί γράψω·"

Correction, the other NT instance I mentioned is in Acts 25:5, not Acts 25:25.

Accentuation of τί in "σχῶ τί γράψω·"

Another accent has me confused. Acts 25:26 "βασιλεῦ Ἀγρίππα, ὅπως τῆς ἀνακρίσεως γενομένης σχῶ τί γράψω·" (NASB) "King Agrippa, so that after the investigation has taken place, I may have something to write" My understanding is that τί is actually from τις here, not τίς. But if it means 'something' ...

Re: Can the article ἡ ever take an acute accent?

Thanks Stephen & Stephen. After looking a bit further, MorphGNT does tag οἵ as a definite article 4 times: 031502 RA ----NPM- οἵ οἵ οἵ ὁ - Luke 15:2 καὶ διεγόγγυζον οἵ τε Φαρισαῖοι καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς λέγοντες ... 051352 RA ----NPM- οἵ οἵ οἵ ὁ - Acts 13:52 - οἵ τε μαθηταὶ ἐπληροῦντο χαρᾶς καὶ πνεύματο...

Can the article ἡ ever take an acute accent?

I ran across this sentence from John 6:18, and noticed the form ἥ. The NFS article makes sense to me in this context (and MorphGNT tags it as such), but if it were the article (and not a relative pronoun) I would have expected it to not use the acute accent. καὶ σκοτία ἤδη ἐγεγόνει καὶ οὔπω ἐληλύθει...

Re: Αυτός

Hi Paul, how then would you interpret αὐτός in the following phrases then? Would you still argue that it is not a simple 3rd person pronoun?
  • αὐτός καί οἱ μετά αὐτοῦ (Mk 2.25)
  • αὐτὸς καὶ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ, (Jn 2:12)

The link for the "reader's edition" of the "True History" is invalid. Instead try: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/098322 ... f=as_li_tl

Re: Trivia: Which chapters have the most obscure words?

It sounds like you've done a considerable amount of work on this already. I think I get the gist of what you're aiming for, but I wonder, if you want to practice lots of sound combinations, is it necessary to use attested GNT forms? Especially for 1-2 syllable words, why not just create a list of po...
