Re: verbal aspect (split from Beginner's Forum)

Eeli Kaikkonen wrote I found an interesting article: http://digitalcommons.liberty.edu/honors/77/ . "This study surveys the works of the leading contributors in this field and offers critiques of their major points. The subject matter is divided into three sections: methods, areas of agreement, and ...

Re: Public domain / freely available lexicons?

I appreciate the help given by both Jonathan and Devenios. Jonathan, Your letting me know of the download page from Perseus will be very helpful. In the past, I've downloaded some isolated texts in XML format but not known of the download page, which makes things considerably easier. The ML is there...

Re: Public domain / freely available lexicons?

In May last year, Jonathan wrote, What public domain / freely available lexicons are good enough to be worth using, especially in software systems that can't use resources that are not freely available? LSJ, obviously. And that's already available in XML. I'm interested to know whether the XML file ...

Re: John 8:25

I'm joining the discussion late, not because of lack of interest but because time has been short. It may be helpful to note the following discussions of this verse, in addition to those already noticed: What did Jesus mean by τὴν ἀρχήν in John 8:25? Caragounis, Chrys C. ; Novum Testamentum, 2007, vo...

Good on you, Murray, for pursuing this - including picking up my own mistake - to the point of a satisfactory resolution.

Re: Zosimus, Historia Nova 3.3.5. "εἰς αὐτοὺς"

Murray Hogg wrote Thanks to everybody who replied, esp. Alex Hopkins who appears to have nailed it. Thankyou, Murray. I reckon the BGreek forum is terrific, and it was particularly nice on this occasion to be able to give some help to a fellow Australian - indeed, fellow Melbournian - with this puzz...

Re: Zosimus, Historia Nova 3.3.5. "εἰς αὐτοὺς"

εἰκότως τοίνυν ὁ καῖσαρ ἀχθόμενος ἐφ’ οἷς τό γε ἧκον εἰς αὐτοὺς ἐκδεδώκασι τοῖς βαρβάροις τοὺς ὁμοφύλους My two cents worth: ἐκδεδώκασι is a perfect pcple, dative plural and in apposition to οἷς, so ~ 'Caesar was angered with those ... who betrayed', τοὺς ὁμοφύλους being direct object of ἐκδεδώκασι,...

Re: First 1000 Words in Koine Greek

I played around with putting something together like Rosetta Stone. It looks like it should be relatively easy using powerpoint. My goal would be to have a set of images and glosses that anyone can use, with any software, or for print, or whatever. If you really want to go through with this decide ...

Re: James 5:7 οὖν

Posts from Jonathan, Iver, and Stephen since I was last able to check this thread have been interesting and informative. I've not yet had the opportunity to wrestle with all the material referred to. In the article Stephen directed attention to, Levinsohn says, I have argued elsewhere that οὖν const...
