Re: John 14:30

καὶ ἐν ἐμοὶ οὐκ ἔχει οὐδέν What might that mean? Literally, "and in me he does not have nothing". Which naturally makes you ask, "what might that mean"? I see that translations render this "He has no claim on me" or "He has no claim on me". I wonder where else this phrase is used with similar meani...

What might this mean?
I'm not sure what your question is - are there particular words you are asking about, or are you struggling with aspects of the grammar?

How much Greek do you know?

Re: Reading Greek beyond the basics: Saturation style

Is there a similar free site that's this convenient for Greek? What site(s) would you recommend for this, if I just want to click on something and listen, without much muss and fuss? I'd recommend: http://www.helding.net/greeklatinaudio/greek/ It's a Modern Greek pronunciation, but its quite good. ...

Re: Reading Greek beyond the basics: Saturation style

(1) Study the text one pericope at a time. Visual tracking is important. That part is easy enough. (2) Master an audio version of the pericope. Associate the sounds with a ... text subdivided into phrases. OK, this requires two things: 1. An audio recording on at least a chapter-by-chapter basis. F...

Help! I'm a mailing list user, and this is so different ....

If you've been using the B-Greek mailing list for many years (as I have), the new forum is a very different environment. What's causing you problems in this transition? What haven't you figured out how to do yet? What did you like better about the old software? What do you like better about the new ...

Re: OCR

I installed Tesseract 3.0 with the Greek training data on Fedora 14. It is a standard package, so I just did this:

$ yum install tesseract tesseract-langpack-ell

I'll try Ocropus - thanks!

Re: Learning Greek Verbs

I'm not good at learning from tables without seeing lots of examples. laparola.net makes it easy to see every instance of a verb in the Greek New Testament, in each form that is used. Go here: http://www.laparola.net/greco/ Look for this: Search by first letter: α β γ δ ε ζ η θ ι κ λ μ ν ξ ο π ρ σ τ...

Re: OCR

I installed Tesseract 3.0 yesterday (this is very easy on Fedora). I have never used OCR software before, I was very impressed by how well it did with both Greek and English texts. With Funk's grammar, it did a good job on the English if I said the text was English, and a good job on the Greek if I ...
