Re: αφίημι: Active, Middle, and Passive
A clarification. If the middle would have been 'leave off' doing, "release" e.g. release your anger," "let go of...." Was it that other verbs took place of middle ἁφίημι?

αφίημι: Active, Middle, and Passive
I've been looking at the word ἀφίημι. This is one of the more rubbery words in the NT. BDAG for most verbs lists and active and passive. Many times they give a middle form meaning section. For this verb, I do not see any middle given in BDAG. The middle is also scarce in LSJ, perhaps about 5% of the...

Re: Funk BIGHG
I made a sticky post (it will always stay on the top of the messages) about it under Books-Grammars. http://www-test.ibiblio.org/bgreek/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=307 . It's not on the main B-Greek page. We could also post it as a sticky under the Beginner's forum. I've talked with Jonathan abou...

Funk - A Beginning-Intermediate Grammar of Hellenistic Greek
The B-Greek site has been give permission to post Robert W. Funk's A Beginning-Intermediate Grammar of Hellenistic Greek. It is one of the best Koine Grammars available for the New Testament. The B-Greek html version can be found at http://www.ibiblio.org/bgreek/project/funk-grammar/pre-alpha/ The B...

Re: Funk BIGHG
I notice the volume 3 (the appendices) is only partially completed. There are no images or pdf pages past page 22 (i.e. pages 23-ca 184) are missing. Is this correct?

Re: Learning Greek on one's own
David Lim wrote The other thing about grammars that makes me uncertain about their reliability is that I can never tell whether something they say, whether a grammatical rule, whether a nuance of a word or phrase or structure, is true or based on the authors' beliefs. So far I did not find any yet i...

Re: Funk BIGHG
While we wait for an updated Funk BIGHG, I wonder if we could improve the current text on the B-Greek site a little: (1).....I would like to see a set of links at the top of each page.including the section range (or start range). That way people do not have to go the the complicated TOC to find the ...

Re: Creating a "Reader's" Edition
Geoffrey Steadman is the guy for this. He's created a number of readers (secular Greek). See http://geoffreysteadman.wordpress.com/ . I've had some contact with him about creating a Reader's edition of Epictetus' Enchiridion. Geoffrey uses MS Word and no database. If you contact him, he would be mor...

Re: Having problems viewing fonts? (Call for Guinea Pigs!)
My Android Sprint phone (Browser 2.2.2) still shows square boxes. Is there any fix for this? Do I need to install a font on it? I have no idea what to do with it.

John 9:6 Position/Referent of αὐτοῦ
John 9.6 ταῦτα εἰπὼν ἔπτυσεν χαμαὶ καὶ ἐποίησεν πηλὸν ἐκ τοῦ πτύσματος καὶ ἐπέχρισεν αὐτοῦ τὸν πηλὸν ἐπὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς A student in my class took αὑτοῦ as referring to τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς. The position seems odd, I took it as referring to 'his clay' meaning the 'clay Jesus made'. It seemed to me that αὐ...
