Re: Are there any Greek online TV programs?
I call that, tongue-in-cheek, Astartean It has also been called "Lagas Greek" because the common word λογος becomes λαγας. Whatever my opinion is worth of, this Americanism is the worst kind of insult towards the rest of the world. I would have listened Bill Mounce's audio lectures but ha...

Re: Lu 1:58
Roy, I think most of us know how accents, voice, mood, etc. are used in Greek, and we know how to look up the meaning of words. Did you have a question? Do you want to verify your understanding of anything in particular? You seem to believe there is a significant difference between "congratulat...

Re: Lu 1:58
I will spell it out for the novice With respect, Roy, Carl is no novice. You clearly are a novice, and most of the people you are talking to are real experts on Greek. There's nothing wrong with being a beginner, but I do think you should post in the Beginner's Forum, and assume that experts may we...

Jonah 2:1 προσέταξεν, 2:11 προσετάγη
I was surprised to see προσέταξεν and προσετάγη both used in Jonah 2. I would have expected a given author to use either the first aorist or the second aorist, but generally not both, especially in the same chapter.
How common is this? I assume the author does not intend any distinction in meaning?

Re: Vocabulary / Week
3) From my experience, some vocab can be learned in 'chunks' -- we learn collocations of words, opposites, semantic domains. Learning these words in groups has a synergistic effect. It's also much faster. Thus, my students can learn colors, numbers, foods much more quickly than they can more abstra...

Matthew 16:18 πἑτρος, πἑτρα
I'm on a business trip, without access to my books, and I don't BDAG or Louw&Nida on my computer. I'm trying to understand this verse: κἀγὼ δέ σοι λέγω ὅτι σὺ εἶ Πέτρος , καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ οἰκοδομήσω μου τὴν ἐκκλησίαν I would have thought ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ must refer to Πέτρος, I don't see any...

Marilyn Phemister died in January, 2012
This is old news, but I hadn't seen it.
B-Greek member Mary Phemister died in January, 2012. She is best known for one of the first complete audio recordings of the Greek New Testament that was freely available on the Internet.

Punctuation
Is there a good article or two that compares the punctuation used in different editions of the Greek New Testament? Which edition do you think has the best punctuation? On an intuitive level, I'm finding I like the punctuation in the Patriarchal Edition of 1904 better than the Nestle-Aland, but I ca...
