Re: Splitting Compound Verbs?
This is the kind of argument that I like to test against my own native tongue, being the one that I have the best intuitions about. It's cognate with Greek and makes verb + adverb/preposition/thingy compounds in a very similar way to Greek (do any other language families in the world form compounds...

Re: Feedback on Greek Voice Tagging and Rationale
I'm trying to find an informal description for myself. The quest continues... "The subject is under the influence of the event described in the verb." That’s helpful. The troublesome sentence might be reformulated to include these elements: “Middle marking indicates that the subject is so...

Re: Feedback on Greek Voice Tagging and Rationale
I'm trying to find an informal description for myself. "If I do it, something (which is in the meaning of the verb) happens to me." If I raise someone, the thing which the verb describes happens to someone else. If I rise, it happens to me. The former is active in Greek, the latter is medi...

Re: Feedback on Greek Voice Tagging and Rationale
"Middle marking indicates that the subject is somehow involved in the action or process to which the verb refers." This is explained right away, but the statement itself is ambiguous. This could be said about every active transitive verb, too. If I εγειρω something I am involved in the act...

Re: Lemmatization
Perseus project is available for download. Not all texts are with it, but at least some. One can add new texts. There are java classes which access the text and can lemmatize and morphologize it. A savvy programmer could use it, although it would take time to make it work. However, there might be an...

Re: Pictures, images, illustrations?
Let me give some examples. Jesus tells many parables using ordinary events. "Πάλιν ὁμοία ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν σαγήνῃ βληθείσῃ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ ἐκ παντὸς γένους συναγαγούσῃ·" (Matt. 13:47) "Ἄλλην παραβολὴν ἀκούσατε. Ἄνθρωπος ἦν οἰκοδεσπότης ὅστις ἐφύτευσεν ἀμπελῶνα καὶ φραγ...

Re: Pictures, images, illustrations?
There must be some good source for pictures, visual representations of artifacts, clothes, buildings etc. for the NT, especially gospels. Something which could be used as a model for drawings (for "living koine" kind of resources). I don't want a book about archeology with b&w photos ...

Re: Movies?
Several films have been made about NT figures. You could screenshot a frame that you like and use that as the basis for your drawing. That came to my mind. But it's a bit difficult to use as a "handbook", e.g. if you need something specific or some "semantic domain". The films h...

Re: ἀληθής
So the translators of the New American Standard Bible were in error when they added this definition as a footnote to John 8:17? John 8:17 I.e. valid or admissible They don't necessarily mean that the word means "valid" or "admissible". They may mean that in this context the word...
