Re: Needing Help with Erasmus Exemplar
Not quite sure on the professnionalism of the scribe of the manuscript in question. They seem to have had an issue with the word παρθένος, correcting themselves in both places that we see παρθένον/παρθένου. That is unless this is how later minuscule manuscripts wrote out the word (see prior comment...

Re: Needing Help with Erasmus Exemplar
This manuscript is a 12th century codex of the four gospels, housed in the University Library in Basel and known as GA 2 in the standard numbering system. There is an online colour image of the page at http://ntvmr.uni-muenster.de/community/modules/papyri/?site=INTF&image=30002/undefined/2520/10...

Re: Is κατ’ ὄνομα in 3 John 1:14/15 an idiom?
I think this is the distributive sense of κατά - each one, one at a time. In context, greet each one individually. Indeed. The typical English translation "by name" may be a little misleading. It works all right in John 10.3 where it is a case of calling sheep, but not in every context. I...

Re: John 8:25 and the adverbial accusative την αρχην
If you can get access to it, Caragounis has a lengthy discussion in an article in Novum Testamentum : Chrys C Caragounis, 'What Did Jesus Mean by τὴν ἀρχήν in John 8:25?' NovT 49.2 2007 129-47 Abstract: The phrase τὴν ἀρχήν in Jn 8:25 is unique in the NT and has caused much debate in interpretation,...

Re: minimalist explanation μὲν οὖν
I wonder if any of these may help for the use without answering δέ (two 19th c. grammars and then a recent discussion from Harvard): Jelf §730 b, about 2/3 of the way down the paragraph. https://archive.org/stream/grammarofgreekla02jelfuoft#page/430 Winer-Moulton, 566. Re: 3Joh 4: AcP or Accusative of Reference - and another minor question on that verse.
An additional question on V. 3: Is it the best way to print a Substitution in form of "Holding fast the truth" for Ἐχάρην γὰρ λίαν, ἐρχομένων ἀδελφῶν καὶ μαρτυρούντων σου τῇ ἀληθείᾳ , καθὼς σὺ ἐν ἀληθείᾳ περιπατεῖς, as Versions as my preferred Darby translation do: "For I rejoiced ex...

Re: ἐξίστημι in Acts 8:11
And neither does LSJ give any indication that different spellings of the perfect have different transitivities. Were you looking at the entry for ἐξίστημι? At least under ἵστημι different forms are given, including ἕστακα in the Causal section, together with indication of occurrences of some of its...

Re: ἐξίστημι in Acts 8:11
Then I looked more carefully at what is said in the quote. I checked Winer-Schmiedel and discovered there a footnote referring to transitive examples in LXX. See the latter part of footnote 4 in https://archive.org/stream/grammatikdesneu00schmgoog#page/n138/mode/2up On checking 1 Sam 15.12 in Rahlf...

Re: ἐξίστημι in Acts 8:11
Meyer has a helpful note on this. ἐξιστῶν, from ἐξιστάω (ἐξίστημι); so ἐξιστάνων, W. H. from ἐξιστάνω (hellenistic), see Blass, Grammatik, pp. 48, 49, transitive in present, future, first aorist active, cf. Luke 24:22—so ἐξεστακέναι, Acts 8:11, perfect active, hellenistic form, also transitive; see...

Re: Use of the dative τῷ διαβόλῳ in Matthew 25:41
The dative in Matt 25.41 parallels the dative in Matt 25.34 and is reasonably understood in a corresponding way. 25.34 τὴν ἡτοιμασμένην ὑμῖν βασιλείαν ἀπὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου the kingdom kept in readiness for you since the foundation of the world I suppose this is what the grammarians call Dative of Ad...
