Re: Managing Time as a Self-Taught Beginner

One of the purposes of B-Greek is to provide support for self-learners. Feel free to post questions on anything with which you might be struggling , or anything concerning which it might be helpful to have feedback. I'd like to reinforce what Barry says here. Good questions from people at various s...

Re: Funk - A Beginning-Intermediate Grammar of Hellenistic G

I got a copy too. The layout is very attractive, I'm really happy to have it. And it's the same great grammar.

Re: Best Intermediate Greek Syntax

I've also found Goetchius' "The Language of the New Testament" is very informative on various structures and on par if not better than Funk in some areas). I bought a copy on this recommendation, along with the workbook, and I have to say that I'm very impressed. Very clear writing, great...

I'm also skeptical of the claim.

Re: τινες ἐξ αὐτων ἄνδρες Acts 11:20

Please forgive me asking a very tiny point, but it might be of relevance to an argument advanced by one Joseph Prince, that we know that Ananias and Sapphira were unbelievers because Ananias is introduced in Acts 5:1 as Ἀνὴρ δέ τις Ἁνανίας, and that ἀνὴρ τις is a term used only of unbelievers (Acts...

Re: 03: The expression of past, present, and future

The major theoretical issue is whether the Koine system (and presumably the classical one as well) actually does express tense or as R. put it, location in absolute time. In the Koine field, this has been a hotly debated issue at least since 1989 and shows no sign of ending soon. I will only note a...

Re: Best Intermediate Greek Syntax

If, on the other hand, what we're talking about really is a good "intermediate Greek Syntax," I think we might do worse than focus shared efforts on reformulating those chapters of Funk's BIGHG now on the eve of its publication in a revised 3rd edition. One matter on which Louis and I hav...

Re: Best Intermediate Greek Syntax

Grammars of modern languages sort of assume that people communicate (write and speak) in them. How long has it been since someone "knew" Koine (or NT) greek and wrote a grammar? How are you measuring? Nobody has spoken Koine as their native language for a long time, and few of us would fi...

Re: Best Intermediate Greek Syntax

Here's what I need to provide infrastructure for a project like this: two or more people who agree about what they want to do, and a realistic plan for how to get it done. I basically want to avoid starting projects that won't finish. Given that, I'm happy to help set up infrastructure that suits th...
