Re: Word-Study Fallacies
thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I teach in an entirely online environment, and about half of my courses allow so little time for Greek that my students do well to master the Greek alphabet well enough to sound out words - e.g. I insist that those who take a six-week continuing ed course on a boo...

Re: Why not start with modern Greek?
Taking your question as posed -- "Why not?" Randall's "if I were younger" certainly resonates. It depends on your purpose, and how much time you have for study and practice -- hours per day as well as likely years left in your life. For myself -- I'm an older person with *lots* o...

Re: Handy GNT for travelling
I didn't know there were 2 sizes; I have a hard time imagining one smaller than the one I have -- it's 3.5" wide by 4.7" tall by .5" thick.
I pretty much carry it around all the time and read a little now and then as free moments appear.

Re: Seminary exegesis classes
I don't underestimate the value of becoming fluent enough in Greek to do GNT exegesis speaking Greek - I just question whether it could be done in the typical time alloted to Greek instruction in a 3 year MDiv program or a 2 year MA. For example, a pastor might want to teach an adult education class...

Re: Seminary exegesis classes
Seminaries by and large train preachers and teachers and spiritual counselors and other professional religious workers. The typical MDiv is a 3-year full-time program,or 2 years for an MA. Greek occupies a small portion of the curriculum, even in the most rigorously biblical schools... I think condu...

Re: Seminary exegesis classes
Hmmm.... in seminary I took an OT exegesis class that did not require knowledge of Hebrew, and an NT exegesis class that did not require knowledge of Greek, as well as Greek III and Hebrew III which each included a lot of exegesis. In the "exegesis" classes we looked at a series of passage...

Re: The terms, "Biblical Greek" and "NT Greek"
I really like it that the name of the forum is b-greek, "The Biblical Greek Forum." The reason I like it, is that this name has the best chance of attracting beginners, the people who need it the most. And by far the majority of the beginning students of this sort of Greek are interested i...
