Re: 1 Tim 5:17 διπλῆς τιμῆς

I've always taken it as both kinds of τιμη – honor and remuneration.

Re: Hendiadys?

I'm still not entirely following the logic of the proposed interpretation referenced in the original post. The significance of the get (βιβλίον ἀποστασίου) is to free the divorced woman for remarriage. For the husband to dismiss his wife without granting her the legal paperwork leaves her in a very...

Re: ἡγιασμένος (Perfect participle of holy/sanctified/ἁγιάζω)

At some point in the future the action of ἡγιασμένον occurs, and at a yet subsequent point the state described by ἔσται becomes a realit...

Re: Noun Form of the Verb ἔρχομαι

ἔλευσις is related to the suppletive future tense that corresponds to ἔρχομαι, so maybe that would do.

Re: John 1:12 case of τέκνα

I get the concept of the epexegetical infinitive. But I'm not seeing how the subject of γενέσθαι is not identical with the subject of ελαβον earlier in the verse, and τέκνα the predicate of the embedded sentence. I don't see how the accusative case of ἐξουσίαν has anything to do with τέκνα being acc...
