Dr. Harold Kime had made a post recently about developing " a beginning NT Greek grammar that combines intermediate syntax and dynamic translation techniques with the traditional study of 1st year morphology." In conversing with him, I found that he uses Byki software http://www.byki.com/byki_descr.html. Is there other language teaching software out there?
I suppose we could add flashcard software as a subcategory. Sites like FlashcardExchange and other sites offer full sets of NT vocabulary flashcards, for Mounce and other grammars.
I also remember reading that there is an open-source (free) modern Greek program available similar to Rosetta Stone. Does anyone know anything about these programs. I would really like to get some direction and feedback on which is best, and how best to use them.

Byki focuses on vocabulary and phrases:
I think you've worked with Moodle for writing language instruction software.
These days, I think HTML5 + JavaScript is probably the platform I would use. I would also use a declarative format for writing lessons, and transform the result into code.
LiveMocha is more like Rosetta Stone. Why Byki Works wrote:Based on all this research, the best starting strategy for any language learner would be to quickly memorize a large number of frequently-used words, stock phrases, and common expressions. That's exactly what Byki enables you to do. Byki is specially designed to help you quickly build a declarative reservoir in the language you are learning - with perfect recall.

Have you tried Mnemosyne; it does spaced repetition well. Flash cards sets can be made from tab-separated files fairly easily.

I like both Mnemosyne and Anki for this. I've been using mostly Anki lately. Both very nice.Nigel Chapman wrote:http://www.mnemosyne-proj.org/
