Blackie's Dialogues for Schools and Colleges (1871)

Post by Stephen Hughes »

If anyone is interested in dialogues composed in the 19th century, here are hyper-links to Blackie's (pdf on vivarium novum or on Archive). Arranged in parallel columns; Greek and English. A little complex, but with masterful vocabulary.

I feel like a terrestial Hermes scudding along?

It is better in the Greek. I love the way he packs so much vocabulary into a short space. The students could memorise his dialogues and then freely make dialogues of their own.

Both of these sources use the same file - and part of dialogues 4 and 6 have been mis-scanned.
There's what appears to be a complete scan at Google Books
