For those of you who want to expand your New Testament Greek skills and read the Greek Ecclesiastical writings, I compiled all the best known copies of Patristic Greek Dictionaries for download, except for Lampe's Patristic Lexicon which is still under copyright. Here is the link with a brief explanation of each dictionary: http://bit.ly/1kCCcfy

There's a digitized version of Sophocles, without manual correction, on Lace.

http://heml.mta.ca/lace/catalog

The URL changes from run to run, currently this is the URL:

http://heml.mta.ca/lace/runs/cu31924021609395

If I have Sophocles, will I have a burning need for any of the others? Which ones do you see as particularly important?

Each dictionary has its own merit in a given circumstance, though some are really bulky pdfs and it takes a long time to sift through them. Donnegan's Greek Dictionary surprisingly has the most positive results in the category of succint dictionaries. Sophocles and Lampe are a short distance behind. Stephanus' Greek-Latin dictionary is the most exhaustive though it is more time consuming because the definitions are in Latin and the volumes are so big -- It takes considerable amount of time to land on the right pdf page. Most Greek-English dictionaries are derivatives of Stephanus. The other dictionaries listed, I infrequently use. When I have the time, I would like to reimage some of the pdf files like I did with Donnegan's to make them smaller and faster.

I didn't know about Sophocles online. That is good to know.

Are there any instructions on how to download and install the digitized Sophocles Greek Dictionary? Are there OS and hardware requirements as well? I have it downloaded but cannot find a txt or similar file.

You can get the page sets using the following links (which are temporary):

http://heml.mta.ca/lace/static/Zips/rob ... v_full.zip
http://heml.mta.ca/lace/static/Tars/rob ... ull.tar.gz

But I suspect it may not be completely obvious what to do with them ;->

If anyone is interested in helping correct a resource like this, let me know, I can try to have someone set up an environment to make it easier. We want corrected versions to flow into a common library.
