I am curious as to why you say that it's a myth? And what would the revolution in lexicography look like? How would our world be better if the revolution took place?
I would welcome some serious answers here. Evidently the Spanish DGE is not revolutionary; what about the new Greek lexicon supposedly in the works at Cambridgehttp://www.classics.cam.ac.uk/research/projects/glp? The relatively-recent Muraoka LXX lexicon has had a pretty good press. in the thread on lemmatizing Greek verbs viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2856&sid=3eb748a74 ... f06fdad468 we've been stabbing (more or less in the dark) at alternatives to an alphabetized sequence of lemmata (lemmas, if you prefer). It's time to move that discussion into its own spotlight.

I think we've seen enough disparagement of the currently available lexicographic resources in ancient Greek. If we may, let's have a forthright clarification from Mr. Bartholomew concerning what sort of revolution in Greek lexicography he would welcome.

The Cambridge Greek Lexicon Project (http://www.classics.cam.ac.uk/research/projects/glp) is not to be sneezed at. A couple eye-opening pages are:

Carl,

If you compare SEMANTIC DICTIONARY OF BIBLICAL HEBREW http://www.sdbh.org/vocabula/index.html with Brown-Driver-Briggs I think we could say there is a radically different framework represented in the two works. This is not so obvious when comparing Thayer to BAG 1957. If you find a complex entry in SDBH there are links to display contextual semantic domains. This feature is one of the primary contributions of this project to Hebrew lexicography.
