Classical Languages Toolkit

Post by cwconrad »

I think that what's involved here may overlap with other projects (Alpheios, Perseus) that have been reported here, but lest anything be missed, I think it's worth calling attention to the announcement of this one:

The goals of the Classical Language Toolkit (CLTK) are to:
Compile analysis-friendly corpora
Gather and improve linguistic data required for natural language processing
Develop a free, open, stable, and modern platform for generating reproducible research
οὔτοι ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς πάντα θεοὶ θνητοῖς ὑπέδειξαν,
ἀλλὰ χρόνῳ ζητέοντες ἐφευρίσκουσιν ἄμεινον. (Xenophanes, Fragment 16)

This site contains the correct link to PACE. (PACE: Project on Ancient Cultural Engagement) which currently contains commentaries and texts on Josephus and Polybius. http://pace-ancient.mcmaster.ca/york/york/index.htm. If you Google 'PACE Josephus' you come up with links to an old address.
Josephus.org - The Flavius Josephus Home Page
josephus.org
The Flavius Josephus Home Page. ... Incredibly, the Brill translation and commentary, which is very expensive in hardcover, is available FREE on the PACE site.

I stumbled upon Josephus.org this evening and there found the PACE website. On the PACE site you can access Josephus in Greek and English. The Josephus.org page
Or even go to McMaster's site http://www.mcmaster.ca/home.cfm and query Josephus and you get the bad link.

Thanks Carl.

Here is a direct link the the Classical Languages Toolkit project: http://cltk.readthedocs.org/en/latest/# This project is a modification of the NLTK (Natural Language Tool Kit http://www.nltk.org/). It seems to be run by a Kyle P. Johnson. http://cltk.readthedocs.org/en/latest/about.html
