Textual Criticism...

Post by Matt Lahey » April 3rd, 2016, 6:21 pm

Hi all,

I'm unsure of where this topic should be located and hopefully this is the right place to ask.

I've been a Christian for roughly 15 years and have been fed through the NIV. About 2 years ago I started attending a bible college and fell in love with Koine Greek - I've spent the last 2 years studying the language. Throughout this journey I've had a few discussions with a friend who is very pro-KJV (Textus Receptus) and very confident in his ability to reason for only reading the KJV/TR.

Because of these discussions, I've encountered much internal conflict and, understandably, it has shaken me a bit.

I want to know more about textual criticism. I understand this to be a very hot topic and can be quite contentious.

Could I ask that for those forum members who have a knowledge of the subject, to private message me with some information; or feel free to post some links below. I have no idea where to start on this subject and really just need a platform to launch from.

Thanks all!

I approved this, even though we don't discuss textual criticism, since you are asking people to contact you privately or post links. I'm going to request that we not have a hot debate on textual criticism here.

A good source of evidence opposed to the KJV only arguments is the website of James White - http://www.aomin.org/
