I've been a member steadily since early 1994. Many, many years ago I was a Religion-Greek and Linguistics major, thinking that I was preparing for the pastorate. I learned classical Greek and wanted to have the skills necessary to read anything from Homer to medieval Greek, with a special interest in Koine and Second Temple Jewish and Christian texts. Life has a way of throwing curve balls and that never happened. I am now an English professor....a medievalist. Though I now work principally in Germanic languages and Latin, I still seek opportunities to use my Greek and Hebrew whenever and where ever I can. I haven't been active on list for some years, though back in the 90s hardly a day went by without a post from me. Still, I keep up on the discussions, at least those of interest to me, though the list is such that whatever I might have to say has already been said by the time I'm reading. So there it is.
