ἀποθνήσκω vs. ἀποκτείνω

I constantly get these two words confused. Anyone have any tips or memory aids or anything that can help me?

Kill has a κ in it...αποκτείνω. ἀπέκτεινε Καϊάφας τὸν Ἰησοῦν.
