Re: ἄρχων vs. αρχος
What Greek texts are you looking at that use these terms? What Greek lexicons do you use to look up words?Kevin Craig wrote:What is the difference between ἄρχων and αρχος?

Both words are in LSJ: ἄρχων and ἀρχός.
At first glance, it doesn't look like ἀρχός is used in the New Testament or Septuagint on its own, only as part of compound words like ἑκιτόνταρχος, πολίαρχος, στρατοπέδαρχος, χιλίαρχος, and the name Ἀρίσταρχος. And in those words, the word itself makes clear what is being ruled over. You can find all of these words in Abbott-Smith's lexicon.
ἐξίσταντο δὲ πάντες καὶ διηποροῦντο, ἄλλος πρὸς ἄλλον λέγοντες, τί θέλει τοῦτο εἶναι;
