Seeing the world in Greek

How can I best learn new vocabulary items? What aids are there and what pitfalls should be avoided? How does a beginner learn to use a lexicon?

  1. The frisbee had just left his hand when I took this picture.
  2. The raised and sheltered platform next to the gate was both cool and convenient.
  3. A dash to the small structure near the house as the storm had just broken.
  4. The cooks quarters are at the far side in the shadows.
  5. Great to get some cool refreshment into you on a hot day.
  6. Beautiful co-ordination.
  7. Leaning forward into the catch.
  8. People who come here want their hands clean and their faces looking the best.
  9. A good teacher with well-prepared pictures and work-sheets.
  10. A great intercept. I'm left with my hand outstretched ready to catch. (ἁπλοῦν τὴν χεῖρά μου)
