Discourse Features of New Testament Greek

I don't understand what my textbook is saying about X. Can someone help me?

Sometimes it helps to look in a mirror.

Sometimes it helps to look at a 7-yr old kid and say,
"This is a substantive, you're going to learn English."

I hope you understand that I was saying that your definitions were extremely helpful. It was a sincere compliment.

thank you, Wes. I did take your comment as a compliment.
My comment was directed to the discussion on "substantive".

I am so glad. I have a tendency to convey the opposite of what I mean. In this case, I was afraid this was one of those instances.

Randall, the original post primarily concerned discourse issues, but secondarily there was a question about τοιουτος and when we may know that it's a pronoun. Since you ably answered the discourse part of the question, I addressed the latter, which in turn led to another response and comment. I fail to see why this would be a problem? It answered the questions, and didn't, in my opinion, detract from the main issue raised. If you have difficulty like this again in another thread, please take it up off forum with a moderator.
