In Hebrews 10:13 what is the effect of the subjunctive?

How do I work out the meaning of a Greek text? How can I best understand the forms and vocabulary in this particular text?

In Hebrews 10:13 what is the effect of the subjunctive?

Post by Bill Ross »

mGNT Hebrews 10:13 τὸ λοιπὸν ἐκδεχόμενος ἕως τεθῶσιν οἱ ἐχθροὶ αὐτοῦ ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ
What is the purpose of the subjunctive (τεθῶσιν)? Does it suggest "From then on to wait until it is time for the setting of his enemies under his feet like a footstool" rather than "to wait until his enemies have been set..."?
What I lack in youth I make up for in immaturity.

Per BDAG, ἔως takes an aorist subjunctive when the commencement of the event is contingent upon circumstances.
