The blog Ancient Hebrew Poetry has an interesting post on Martin's Luther's views on the value of learning the Biblical languages, both Hebrew and Greek, and the help Hebrew can provide to the Greek student:

I would add that learning some Aramaic, Latin, and German doesn't hurt either... :D

hmm,
Aramaic, Latin, and German don't help with the shape, idiom, and connections of a Hebrew parable taught to a first century audience.
