For a study I am doing, I am trying to distinguish between the definite and indefinite articles (new member, first post).
For example, in Luke 2:7, the KJV reads "laid him in a manger." Is "a" the correct translation or, from the original Greek, should it be "the" (the definite article)?
Thank you

Re: Definite article
Hi Ray,
Welcome to B-Greek!
There is no such thing as an indefinite article in Greek. You'll have to work through a Greek grammar like this one to get at your answer, but feel free to ask questions about what you read here. Your real question is this: how do articles and nouns work in the Greek language. And that's something you need to work through systematically, a simple on-off answer won't actually answer your question.
Also: we don't discuss translations on B-Greek, and we don't work with interlinears. If you have questions about a specific text, please cite it in Greek.
